BOSTON — Under partly cloudy skies and amid roaring crowds lining the storied route from Hopkinton to Copley Square, Sohan Ganatra crossed the finish line of the 130th Boston Marathon in a time of 2 hours, 44 minutes, and 26 seconds — placing 1,852nd out of 29,375 finishers and well inside the top ten percent of the entire field.
Maintaining a pace of 6:17 per mile across the punishing 26.2-mile course, including the notorious Newton hills and Heartbreak Hill, the 24-year-old runner earned his place among the elite at the world’s oldest annual marathon. Family members were on hand at One Back Bay to greet the finisher with embraces and celebrations that captured the joy of the moment.
